Dana Clark-Brocks, Ed.D. is a practitioner, researcher, and author with more than two decades of experience across nonprofit organizations, ministry, early education, workforce development, and federal government — working inside complex organizations where leadership, people, and accountability intersect."

She began her career in Head Start, where she spent over a decade moving from Special Services Specialist to Assistant Site Manager to Site Manager with the majority of her experience as Site Manager. As Assistant Site Manager, she supervised a staff of 32, including teachers and education specialists, and led programs through NAEYC accreditations and re-accreditations across both roles — a process that demands sustained leadership, coordination, and organizational alignment across every level of a program.

That experience, and the leadership questions it raised, eventually led her to doctoral research. Her dissertation examined Leader–Member Exchange (LMX) theory and turnover intention in dual leadership environments — exploring what happens when employees navigate more than one source of authority, and how the quality of those relationships shapes whether people stay or leave.

That research became the foundation of Staying Power: A Leadership Guide to Reducing Turnover Through Alignment and Trust.

Today, Dana serves as a Federal Project Officer with the U.S. Department of Labor, providing oversight and guidance to workforce development programs across eleven states. She has also trained leaders nationally on program implementation, grant management, and leadership principles.

Staying Power is written for leaders who share responsibility and want practical, research-grounded tools for building the kind of alignment that keeps good people committed to the work.
